The Winter Table

Twelve pieces for the slowest meal of the week. Made with the ceramicist Ada Roux and photographed over one long winter morning, somewhere with good light and no hurry.

Winter is the only season that asks you to sit still. So we made the twelve things you need to do it properly, and nothing you don't.

The maker

Ada Roux

A plate should look like somebody touched it, because somebody did.

Ada works out of a converted dairy an hour north of Copenhagen, throwing everything on a wheel her grandfather built. She fires twice a month and rejects roughly a third of what comes out.

The glaze on this collection took her four months and eleven test tiles. It pools darker where the wall is thinnest, which is why no two plates in your stack are quite the same colour. That is the point.

The whole thing

Setting for four

The whole thing, boxed: four dinner plates, four side plates, four coupe bowls, the serving platter, four sets of Fold flatware, four hemstitch napkins, the linen runner, six beeswax tapers and two ash candlesticks. Ninety euros less than buying the pieces apart.

About this site

thewintertable.com is not a shop. It is a campaign, on its own domain, with its own design — reading the same catalogue, the same inventory and the same checkout as www.linden.store. Buy here and it lands in the same orders, the same revenue and the same customer record. When winter is over, this address goes away and nothing is stranded.
